South Africa Grade 11 Music

The Grade 11 Music curriculum in South Africa follows the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS). The CAPS document provides assessment standards, learning outcomes, and content guidelines for the subject. Resources and support materials for teachers and learners are available through the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) ePortal and the national Department of Basic Education website

Annual Teaching Plans (ATPs) aligned with the CAPS curriculum are available for each term. For example, the 2023/2024 ATP for Music Western Art Music (WAM) Grade 11 Term 1 was published on January 27, 2023 These plans provide a detailed breakdown of the topics and assessment activities for each week of the term. Additional resources, such as textbooks and workbooks, are available from various publishers, including Amanda Johnson & Co. and Allmusic These resources cover various aspects of the curriculum, including music theory, history, and analysis. Online learning platforms, such as CambriLearn also offer CAPS-aligned courses for Grade 11 Music.
