Term 3:

- Factors that contribute to substance abuse: personal and social
- Appropriate behavior to stop and avoid substance abuse
Term 3:
- Health and safety issues related to violence:
- Common acts of violence at home, school, and in the community
- Impact of violence on individual and community health and safety
- Alternatives to violence: problem-solving skills - managing conflict
- Protecting oneself and others from acts of violence - where to find help:
- National health and/or safety promotion programs
- Importance of the programs

Constitutional Rights and Responsibilities
Term 1:
- Concepts: Human rights and constitution
- Human rights as stated in the South African constitution
- Exercising one's rights in a responsible manner
Term 2:
- Issues relating to citizens' rights and personal choices:
- Celebrations of national and international days
- Human rights, freedom, heritage, reconciliation, workers, women, Africa, and Nelson Mandela
- Respect for others' rights:
- People with other illnesses and diseases: different disabilities and HIV and AIDS (infected and affected)
Term 3:
- Oral traditions and scriptures in major religions in South Africa
- Fair play in a variety of sport activities
Term 4:
- Concept: Nation building
- Different ways to promote nation building

Physical Education
Physical Education is assessed throughout all four terms. Learners participate in activities that promote movement and physical development. Assessment focuses on participation and movement performance. Activities include:
- Term 1: Physical activities that promote achievement of movement performance in rotation, balance and elevation
- Term 2: Target games
- Term 3: Athletic and/or sport activities
- Term 4: Recreational outdoor activities
