South Sudan Primary 8 Curriculum - Arabic

The South Sudan Primary 8 curriculum includes Arabic language instruction for learners from Primary 5 to 8. The government introduced Arabic language instruction in May 2024, along with Islamic Religious Education. Textbooks for Arabic language and Islamic Religious Education were launched in May 2024 for use in primary and secondary schools. 2.5 million textbooks were distributed. While the language of instruction for Primary 4-8 is English, Arabic is learned from Primary 5. The South Sudan national curriculum was first developed in October 2015 and implemented in the 2018 school year. The curriculum framework sets competencies for work and life. A variety of learning materials and textbooks are available for different subjects, including Christian Religious Education and English.
