South Sudan Primary 3 Mathematics Curriculum
This curriculum is based on the Primary Mathematics Pupil's Book 3, developed by the Ministry of General Education and Instruction, Republic of South Sudan. The book aims to provide a fun, practical approach to mathematics while equipping students with lifelong skills.
1. Numbers
- Reading and Writing Numbers: Covers reading and writing numbers up to four digits, including number names and numeric forms.
- Place Value: Understanding the value of digits in different positions (ones, tens, hundreds, thousands) and expanded form.
- Comparing Numbers: Arranging numbers in ascending and descending order.
- Addition and Subtraction: Adding and subtracting numbers up to four digits, including word problems.
- Divisibility Tests: Testing divisibility by 2, 5, and 10.
- Fractions: Comparing simple equivalent fractions.
2. Measurement
- Length: Estimating and measuring lengths in centimeters and meters, converting between units, and performing addition and subtraction with length measurements.
- Capacity: Understanding capacity and the unit of liters, including addition, subtraction, and conversion between milliliters, centiliters, deciliters, and liters.
- Weight: Understanding weight and the units of grams and kilograms, including addition and subtraction.
- Time: Working with units of time (weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds), calculating time intervals, and using a.m. and p.m.
- Money: Practical applications of money, including shopping, calculating costs, and determining change.
3. Geometry
- Shapes: Identifying and drawing shapes accurately, including squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, and ovals.
- Properties of Shapes: Exploring properties of geometric shapes, such as sides, angles, and lines of symmetry.
4. Inequalities
- Understanding Inequalities: Using symbols like > (greater than) and < (less than) to compare numbers.
5. Data Handling
- Pictographs: Representing data using picture symbols.
- Block Graphs: Representing data using bars in a graph.
