Unit 1: Charters for Peace and Conflict Resolution

This unit explores the foundations, objectives, and organizational structures of the United Nations (UN) and the African Union (AU), including their roles in peace and conflict resolution. It examines the relevance of the UN Charter to peacekeeping and conflict resolution, the AU's influence on South Sudan, and the roles of both organizations in promoting peace and security. The unit also covers the achievements of the UN and AU, the AU Protocol on peace and conflict resolution, the role of the African Standby Force, and similarities between the UN and AU in their peacemaking efforts.

Unit 2: Systems of Government Around the World

This unit examines different systems of government around the world, focusing on Kenya, Britain, and the United States. It compares and contrasts these systems with the system of government in South Sudan. Topics covered include the electoral processes, structures, and functions of the different branches of government in each country. The unit also explores the concept of global interdependence, its aspects (economic, social, and environmental), and the responsibilities of individuals and governments in fostering global interdependence. It concludes by discussing the challenges facing global interdependence.

Unit 3: How the Economy Functions in South Sudan

This unit explores the meaning and operation of an economy, focusing on the role of the government, individuals, and businesses. It examines the role of taxes in balancing the economy, laws and systems affecting economic management, and the rights and responsibilities of consumers, employers, and employees. The unit also discusses the impact of local and national economies on these stakeholders.

Unit 4: The Rights and Responsibilities of Consumers, Employers, and Employees

This unit delves deeper into the rights and responsibilities of consumers, employers, and employees in South Sudan. It covers the Consumer Protection Act of 2011, consumer responsibilities, the impact of the national economy on these stakeholders, responsible consumerism, the effects of consumerism, and the Labour Law of South Sudan.

Unit 5: Peace-making

This unit explores the basis of holistic peacemaking and conflict resolution in South Sudan. It identifies individuals and organizations involved in peacemaking efforts, including local and international actors. The unit also examines the roles of the UN Charter and the AU Charter in conflict resolution. It discusses various peacemaking activities in South Sudan, such as peace dialogues, strengthening peace networks, using sports and theatre for peace, and promoting education.

Unit 6: The Need for Sustainable Development

This unit examines the issues and challenges of global interdependence and responsibility, including sustainable development. It explores the meaning of sustainable development, ways to achieve it, the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD), the impact of DESD on public opinion, school curricula, and government policies. The unit also discusses natural disasters, their management, and strategies for protecting the environment.

Unit 7: Organising a Community Project

This unit focuses on organizing community projects, including identifying opportunities for active citizenship, measuring a project's impact, requirements for informed contribution, and plans for monitoring and reviewing a project. It covers the stages of carrying out a community project, tools and instruments for monitoring and evaluation, and strategies for project sustainability.
