This Kiswahili curriculum for Senior 4 was developed by the Ministry of General Education and Instruction, Republic of South Sudan, in collaboration with language experts. The Student Textbook provides a comprehensive explanation of the national curriculum, a strong foundation in Kiswahili, presentation and explanation of key concepts, practical exercises demonstrating real-life application of Kiswahili, opportunities for collaboration through group work, and engaging illustrations.
Course Content:
The textbook covers the following topics:
- Life Decisions and Social Problems: This section focuses on listening and speaking skills, using poems and related exercises to explore themes like saving for the future, perseverance, and making wise choices.
- Gender Equality: This section also emphasizes listening and speaking skills, using poetry to address issues related to raising children equally, regardless of gender, and societal expectations.
- International Relations: This section explores the importance of international cooperation and understanding, focusing on South Sudan's relationship with other nations and its role in the East African Community. Activities include group discussions and written assignments.
- Tourism: This section examines the concept of tourism, its economic benefits, and the challenges and opportunities facing the tourism sector in South Sudan. Students learn about different types of tourism, tourist attractions, and the importance of environmental conservation.
