Spain Bachillerato - Humanities

The Bachillerato is a two-year post-compulsory secondary education program in Spain that prepares students for university. It is typically for students aged 16-18. The Humanities branch focuses on language, literature, philosophy, social sciences, and humanities.

Core Subjects

Within the Humanities branch, students are required to take several core subjects:

• Philosophy
• Spanish Language and Literature (and the co-official language and literature of the autonomous region, if applicable)
• A Foreign Language (often English)
• Spanish History

Elective Subjects

In addition to the core subjects, students choose elective subjects related to their chosen branch. Specific elective subjects within the Humanities branch may vary, but can include subjects such as:

• Latin
• Greek
• Economics
• Art History
• Geography

Bachillerato Structure

The Bachillerato is divided into two years (First and Second year). The curriculum is organized into core subjects and specialist subjects. Students must take a final exam, known as the Prueba General de Bachillerato, at the end of the second year.
