Sri Lanka Grade 10 School Syllabus - Basket 3

The Sri Lankan Ordinary Level (O-level) examination, formerly known as the Senior School Certificate (SSC), is a General Certificate of Education (GCE) qualification. It marks the completion of secondary education in Sri Lanka and is conducted by the Department of Examinations of the Ministry of Education. The O-Level exam is based on the Cambridge University Ordinary Level qualification. The 2023 (2024) O-Level exam commenced on May 6th at numerous examination centers across Sri Lanka. Results for the 2024 (2023) examination were released on September 28th.

Students in Grade 10 select a third group subject (Basket 3) in addition to their main subjects. These Basket 3 subjects include:

Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

This subject aims to develop competencies in using ICT tools and establish a foundational theoretical understanding for higher studies. A teacher's guide is available covering all competency levels. Additional resources, including textbooks in Sinhala medium, can be found online.

Agriculture and Food Technology

This subject covers various aspects of agriculture and food technology. Textbooks are available in Sinhala, English, and Tamil mediums. Teacher's guides are also available.

Health and Physical Education

This subject focuses on developing a holistic understanding of health, covering exercise, nutrition, and other related topics. A teacher's guide is available.

Communication and Media Studies

This subject was introduced to Grade 10 to provide students with an understanding of communication and media. Textbooks in Sinhala medium are available. A syllabus for Grades 10 and 11 is also available.

The e-Thaksalawa platform provides online learning resources for various subjects, including those in Basket 3. These resources include lessons, past papers, and other learning materials.
