Appreciation of Sinhala Literary Texts (GCE Ordinary Level)
This course is designed for students in grades 10 and 11 in Sri Lanka as part of their GCE Ordinary Level examination. It focuses on developing an appreciation for Sinhala literature through the study of various texts. Students engage with a range of literary works, including traditional folk poetry, short stories, novels, dramas, and excerpts from significant Sinhala literary works. The syllabus aims to enhance students' analytical skills, critical thinking, and understanding of literary techniques. Past papers, marking schemes, and model papers are available to aid students in their preparation for the examination.
Grade 10
The Grade 10 curriculum introduces students to a selection of Sinhala literary texts, including:

Grade 11
Building upon the foundation laid in Grade 10, the Grade 11 curriculum delves into more complex texts, including:

- The Mourning (වැලපීම)
- The Morning (උදය)
- The Rain (වැස්ස)

Examinations and Resources
The GCE Ordinary Level examination for Appreciation of Sinhala Literary Texts typically takes place in December. The examination assesses students' comprehension and analytical skills through multiple-choice questions, structured questions, and essay-type questions.
