Sudan Basic Level Year 5 English Curriculum

This curriculum utilizes the Sudan Modern Integrated Learning of English (SMILE) program. It aims to cultivate a positive attitude towards English as a foreign language and focuses on developing all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

The SMILE program was developed by the British Council and consists of student books, activity books, teacher's guides, and supplementary resources. A starter series is also available for grades 1-3.

Specifically for Year 5, the curriculum includes:

• SMILE Series: Book 3 (A): This is the designated pupil's book for Basic Level Grade 5.
• Supplementary Resources: Additional materials and lesson plans are available through the British Council and other educational platforms.

The curriculum employs communicative approaches and incorporates various learning activities, including phonics, cross-curricular topics, and interactive exercises. It is designed to be engaging and motivating for young learners.
