Sudan Basic Level Primary 5 Mathematics Curriculum

This curriculum is based on the Primary Mathematics 5 Pupil's Book developed by the Ministry of General Education and Instruction, Government of South Sudan. The book aims to provide a fun, practical approach to mathematics while imparting lifelong skills.

Curriculum Content:

The Primary Mathematics 5 Pupil's Book is structured into five units:

Unit 1: Numbers

• Reading, writing, ordering, and comparing numbers up to six digits.
• Divisibility tests for 3, 4, 6, and 9.
• Prime numbers.
• Roman numerals and Hindu-Arabic numbers up to 50.
• Factors and multiples.
• Finding the Highest Common Factor (HCF) and Least Common Multiple (LCM).
• Adding and subtracting fractions using LCM.
• Fractions and decimals (conversion between the two).

Unit 2: Measurement

• Converting between meters and kilometers.
• Calculating the area of rectangles and squares.
• Calculating the volume of cubes and cuboids.
• Time.
• Measuring temperature in Celsius and Fahrenheit.
• Money (including profit and loss).

Unit 3: Geometry

• Constructing parallel lines.
• Constructing angles (30°, 60°, 90°, 45°).
• Lines of symmetry.

Unit 4: Algebra

• Purpose of algebraic equations.
• Solving algebraic equations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Forming and solving algebraic equations.

Unit 5: Statistics

• Why data is collected.
• Methods of data collection (observation, interviews, questionnaires, experiments).
• Steps in data collection.
• Representing data (bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts).
