This curriculum outlines the subject of Home Economics (Hem- och konsumentkunskap) within the Swedish Grundskola. Aims
The subject aims to develop students' knowledge and interest in household work, economics, and consumer choices. It emphasizes practical skills, sensory experiences, and critical thinking related to food and meals. Students are encouraged to develop initiative and creativity in cooking, meal planning, and other household tasks. The curriculum also promotes awareness of the impact of household choices on health, well-being, and resources. Students learn about consumer rights, finances, and cultural variations in households.

By the end of Year 9, students should be able to:

- Cook for various needs and contexts.
- Understand food properties and uses.
- Choose appropriate ingredients and cooking methods, including baking.

Grading Criteria (Year 9)
- Grade E: The student can plan and cook meals and manage other practical household tasks using mostly functional methods. They can simply describe factors influencing personal finance and consumer choices, and simply evaluate the impact of household choices on health, economy, and the environment.
- Grade C: The student can plan and cook meals and manage other practical household tasks using effective methods. They can thoroughly describe factors influencing personal finance and consumer choices, and thoroughly evaluate the impact of household choices on health, economy, and the environment.
- Grade A: The student can plan and cook meals and manage other practical household tasks using highly effective methods. They can comprehensively describe factors influencing personal finance and consumer choices, and comprehensively evaluate the impact of household choices on health, economy, and the environment. They can effectively evaluate how the work process has affected the quality of the result.
