Sweden Grundskola Art Curriculum - Year 6

The Swedish compulsory school system (Grundskola) includes art education for students from pre-school class up to year 9. Art education in Sweden aims to develop pupils' abilities and interests in visual arts. The curriculum emphasizes fostering a lifelong desire to learn and promoting respect for human rights and fundamental democratic values.

Specifically, for Year 6, which falls within the Mellanstadiet stage (years 4-6), students are expected to achieve certain knowledge requirements in art by the end of the school year. These requirements form the basis for assessment and grading.

Pupils are expected to be able to produce different types of narrative and informative pictures. They learn about various materials, tools, and techniques, and how to use them in their own artistic creations. The curriculum also covers image analysis and discussions about different artistic expressions.
