Electricity and Energy Program (El- och energiprogrammet)
This vocational program provides students with knowledge and skills in electrical engineering, energy technology, automation, and related fields. It prepares students for a variety of careers in the electrical and energy sectors.
Program Overview:
The Electricity and Energy Program focuses on practical, hands-on training combined with theoretical knowledge. Students learn about electricity production, installation, distribution, and maintenance. They also study automation, computer and communication technology, and safety procedures.
Specializations (Inriktningar):
The program offers four specializations:
- Automation Technology (Automationsteknik): Focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated production systems. Potential careers include automation technician in manufacturing or process industries.
- Computer and Communication Technology (Dator- och kommunikationsteknik): Covers installation, administration, and repair of computer and communication systems. Potential careers include support technician, network technician, or IT operations technician.
- Electrical Technology (Elteknik): Focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, distribution networks, security systems, and data networks. Potential careers include installation electrician, industrial electrician, distribution electrician, or railway technician.
- Energy Technology (Energiteknik): Covers maintenance and optimization of energy, water, and environmental technology systems. Potential careers include operating engineer, power and heating technician, or hydropower technician.
Key Program Components:
- Core Subjects: Includes courses in English, history, physical education and health, mathematics, natural science, religious studies, social studies, and Swedish.
- Program-Specific Courses: Covers topics such as automation technology, computer and communication technology, electrical technology, and energy technology.
- Workplace-Based Learning (Arbetsplatsförlagt lärande - APL): A crucial part of the program, involving at least 15 weeks of practical experience in a workplace setting. This allows students to apply their knowledge, gain real-world experience, and make industry contacts.
Further Education and Career Opportunities:
Graduates of the Electricity and Energy Program are prepared to enter the workforce directly or pursue further education at vocational colleges (yrkeshögskola) or universities. The program provides a foundation for a wide range of careers in the electrical and energy sectors. |
