Swedish Gymnasieskolan Curriculum: Building and Construction Program (Bygg- och anläggningsprogrammet)

This program is a vocational program that prepares students for various professions within the building and construction industry. The curriculum includes core subjects, program-specific subjects, and specialized courses within different career paths.

Core Subjects

Students are required to complete core subjects in the following areas:

  • Languages: Swedish or Swedish as a Second Language, English
  • Humanities: History, Religious Studies
  • Social Sciences: Civics
  • Science: Natural Science
  • Mathematics: Mathematics
  • Physical Education: Physical Education and Health

Specializations (Inriktningar)

  • Ground and Civil Engineering (Mark och anläggning): Deals with groundworks for roads, railways, foundations, pipelines, and landscaping.
  • Painting (Måleri): Focuses on painting techniques and processes for various surfaces and structures.

Further Specialization (Programfördjupning)

Students can choose additional courses to further specialize within their chosen career path. These courses cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Construction Processes: Further specialization in specific construction processes, such as concrete work, carpentry, masonry, and more.
  • Materials and Techniques: Courses focusing on specific materials and techniques, such as tiling, flooring, insulation, and ventilation.
  • Design and Technology: Courses in CAD, design principles, and applied programming.
  • Business and Entrepreneurship: Courses in business administration and entrepreneurship.

Individual Choice (Individuellt val)

Students can also choose courses from other programs to broaden their knowledge and skills.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate, students must complete all required courses and the final project (gymnasiearbete). The program provides a vocational qualification and the opportunity to enter the workforce directly after graduation. It also provides the foundation for further studies at the university level.
