History is a humanistic and social science subject exploring individual circumstances and societal changes over time. People's future opportunities and choices depend on past actions and events and their contemporary interpretations.

Aim of the Subject

History education aims to broaden, deepen, and develop students' historical consciousness through knowledge of the past, using historical methods, and understanding how history is used. Students develop an understanding of how different interpretations and perspectives on the past influence present views and future perceptions. Teaching helps students develop their historical knowledge and use history as a frame of reference to understand present issues and analyze historical change processes from different perspectives. Students learn to understand the living conditions of different eras and explain people's roles in social change, recognizing that people in every age should be understood in relation to their time's conditions and values. Students also develop an understanding of the present and the ability to orient themselves to the future. History is used to influence social change and create different identities. Teaching enables students to understand and assess how different people and groups have used history and reflect on cultural heritage's importance in understanding identity and reality. Teaching provides opportunities for students to work with historical concepts, questions, explanations, and different relationships in time and space to understand historical processes of change in society. Using historical methods is integral to teaching, allowing students to search for, examine, interpret, and assess different sources and use various theories, perspectives, and tools to explain and illustrate historical change processes. Students present their work using various forms of expression, both orally and in writing, and by using modern information technology.

• History 1b (100 credits): Builds on compulsory school knowledge. Covers points 1-5 under the "Aim of the Subject."
• History 2a (100 credits): Builds on History 1a2 or 1b. Covers points 1-5 under the "Aim of the Subject," emphasizing point 3. Covers advanced knowledge.
• History 2b - Culture (100 credits): Builds on History 1a2 or 1b. Covers points 1-5 under the "Aim of the Subject," emphasizing point 3. Covers advanced knowledge.
• History 3 (100 credits): Builds on History 2a or 2b - Culture. Covers points 1-5 under the "Aim of the Subject," emphasizing points 3-5. Covers advanced knowledge.
