Swedish Mellanstadiet (Grade 4) School Syllabus - Physics

This information is based on the Swedish national curriculum, Lgr22.

Physics in Nature and Society

  • Energy Flows: Energy flows between objects of different temperatures. Students learn how these energy flows can be influenced by using different heat-conducting and insulating materials.
  • Light and Sound: How light and sound propagate and can be reflected.
  • Electricity: Simple electrical circuits with batteries. How they can be connected and used in everyday electrical equipment.
  • Forces and Motion: Forces and motion observable and measurable in everyday situations.
  • Weather Phenomena: Common weather phenomena and their causes, such as how winds and precipitation arise.
  • The Earth and the Solar System: How day, night, seasons, and the year can be explained based on the movements of celestial bodies in the solar system.
  • Energy Sources: Different forms of energy, various types of energy sources, and their impact on the environment.
  • Measurement: Some instruments and how they are used to measure physical quantities, such as temperature and force.

Systematic Investigations and Review of Information

  • Observations and Experiments: Observations and experiments using both analog and digital tools. Planning, execution, evaluation of results, and documentation with words, images, and tables.
  • Discoveries in Physics: Some discoveries in the field of physics and their significance for human living conditions and views on nature.
  • Critical Review of Information: Critical review and use of information related to physics.
