Switzerland Cycle d'Orientation (Sekundarstufe I) - Social Sciences and Humanities > History
The Cycle d'Orientation (CO) is the lower-secondary level of compulsory education in Switzerland, typically for students aged 12 to 15 (9CO, 10CO, 11CO). History is a component of the Social Sciences and Humanities domain within the CO curriculum. While there isn't a national curriculum, cantons coordinate and harmonize their educational systems. The Plan d'études romand (PER) provides a curriculum framework for French-speaking Switzerland. Within the PER, history is part of the Sciences humaines et sociales domain, alongside geography and citizenship. This domain aims to equip students with knowledge, skills, and methodologies specific to the human sciences, exploring the relationship between humans, space, time, and society. In some international schools in Switzerland, the history curriculum may have an international focus. The CO curriculum also includes transversal skills such as collaboration, communication, learning strategies, creative thinking, and reflective practices. |
