Switzerland Secondary I Syllabus - Geometry
This syllabus outlines the geometry topics covered in the "Form und Raum" (Shape and Space) competency area of the Lehrplan 21 for Sekundarstufe I (Secondary I). The Lehrplan 21 is the curriculum framework for Switzerland.
Form und Raum (Shape and Space)
This competency area focuses on developing students' understanding of geometric concepts, spatial reasoning, and the ability to apply these skills in various contexts. It is divided into three main sub-areas:
- A| Operieren und Benennen (Operating and Naming):
1. Understanding and using geometric terms and symbols.
2. Representing, decomposing, and composing figures and solids.
3. Determining and calculating lengths, areas, and volumes.
- B| Erforschen und Argumentieren (Exploring and Reasoning):
1. Exploring geometric relationships, particularly between lengths, areas, and volumes, formulating conjectures, and sharing findings.
2. Verifying statements and formulas related to geometric relationships, supporting them with examples, and providing justifications.
- C| Mathematisieren und Darstellen (Mathematizing and Representing):
1. Representing solids and spatial relationships.
2. Folding, sketching, drawing, and constructing figures, and exchanging and verifying representations of plane geometry.
3. Visualizing figures and solids in different positions, representing and describing changes (mental geometry).
4. Determining the coordinates of figures and solids in a coordinate system, representing figures and solids based on their coordinates, and reading and drawing plans.
