Tajikistan Education System Overview
Tajikistan's education system follows a structure of four years of primary school, five years of lower secondary, and two years of upper secondary education. Attendance is mandatory from age seven to seventeen. In 2024, upper secondary education (grades 10-11) became compulsory. The Aga Khan Lycée in Tajikistan follows the Tajik National State Curriculum. The Ministry of Education and Science (MoES) is responsible for developing and implementing education policy. There are efforts to improve the quality of education, including developing new teaching and learning materials, particularly for math and Tajik language. USAID is also supporting programs to improve reading and math skills in primary grades. New English textbooks have been developed for grades 10 and 11.
