Tajikistan Grade 11 Curriculum - Foreign Languages
The Tajikistan Grade 11 curriculum includes the study of foreign languages, most commonly English and Russian. The Aga Khan Lycée (AKL) offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) alongside the Tajik National State Curriculum. The curriculum is offered in three languages of instruction: English, Russian, and Tajik. Families choose the language of instruction during the admissions process.
In many schools across Tajikistan, both English and Russian are taught. Russian is often seen as a pathway to career success and access to modern literature and technology. English is also a popular choice among students.
In 2024, the U.S. Embassy, in partnership with other organizations, developed new English textbooks and curricula for Tajik students in grades 10 and 11. The U.S. government also provided 242,000 English language textbooks for these grades.
Tajikistan's education system is currently undergoing a transition from a Soviet-style system to one that aligns with international standards. A competency-based curriculum was introduced in 2015, promoting a holistic, student-centered approach. |
