Tanzania Form 2 Biology Syllabus
This syllabus is based on the Biology Syllabus for Ordinary Secondary Education Form I-IV (2023) from the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE).
Form Two
1. Nutrition
- Nutrition in Humans and Ruminants: This topic covers nutrients, the digestive system, and digestive processes in both humans and ruminants.
- Transportation of Materials in Flowering Plants: This topic covers vascular tissues, absorption and movement of water and mineral salts, and transpiration.
- Transportation of Materials in the Human Body: This topic focuses on the blood circulatory system, including the heart, blood, and blood vessels.
- Mechanisms of Gaseous Exchange and Respiration in Mammals: This topic covers the structure and function of the lungs, aerobic and anaerobic respiration, and factors affecting the rate of respiration.
- Mechanism of Gaseous Exchange in Plants: This topic covers the parts of plants responsible for gaseous exchange and the process itself.
2. Biological Investigations
- Investigating Food Nutrients: Students will investigate food nutrients in various food samples using scientific procedures.
- Investigating Transportation Processes in Flowering Plants: Students will investigate the processes of transportation of materials in flowering plants using scientific procedures.
- Determining Pulse Rate in Humans: Students will conduct experiments to determine the pulse rate in humans.
- Investigating Aerobic and Anaerobic Respiration: Students will investigate aerobic and anaerobic respiration in living organisms.
- Preparing and Presenting Biological Investigation Reports: Students will prepare and present reports on their biological investigations, following scientific procedures.
