Standard 7 Syllabus Content:
The Standard 7 syllabus builds upon the competencies developed in earlier standards, with a continued focus on reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Specific competencies include:
- Comprehending Oral and Written Information: Students practice listening to and understanding oral sentences, identifying coordinators, listening to and retelling stories, identifying expressions for seeking confirmation, reading texts with expressions for seeking confirmation, reading different texts and writing summaries, and reading simple and complex stories.
- Communicating Orally and Through Writing: Students engage in role-playing dialogues with prepositions of movement and directions, using cardinal points, and using words that show direction. They also use correlative conjunctions to express results in sentences and compositions, write controlled and guided compositions using possessive pronouns, and write free compositions on various topics.
- Acquiring and Using Vocabulary: Students develop vocabulary through listening to and reciting poems, identifying figures of speech, using dictionaries to find word meanings, reading texts with words that express quantity and quality, and using these words in sentences and short texts. They also learn words with similar spellings but different meanings (homographs).
This curriculum provides a comprehensive framework for English language instruction in Standard 7, preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of secondary education and beyond. |
