Tanzania Standard 4 English Language Curriculum

This curriculum aims to equip Standard 4 pupils with foundational English language skills, focusing on communication and practical application. The curriculum emphasizes a balance of reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. As students progress from Standard 3, the curriculum shifts towards incorporating these four skills more evenly.

The prescribed textbook, "English. Standard Four," guides pupils through various activities and exercises designed to enhance their language proficiency. It covers a wide range of language arts topics, including reading comprehension, writing skills, and vocabulary development. Another textbook, "My English, book four : standard four," includes poems, stories, and interactive activities. "English Language With Activities Pupil's Book 4" is also aligned with the current Tanzanian Primary School syllabus.

Activities:

Examples of activities in the Standard 4 English curriculum include writing practice based on visual aids and comprehension exercises based on oral and written texts. Classroom activities often involve interactive exercises and games.

Assessment:

The Standard Four National Assessment (SFNA) evaluates pupils' competencies and mastery of the English language. "Get Ready for Standard Four English Examination" is a resource available to help students prepare for this assessment. Exam series are available and aligned with the current syllabus.

These schemes are available for various subjects, including English, and are designed to align with the official syllabus.
