Several textbooks support the Standard 1 Reading curriculum. "Reading Standard One Pupil's Book One" published by TIE is a commonly used resource. Longhorn Publishers also provides textbooks for Standard 1 Reading. Additional reading materials and notes are available online.

Competencies

Standard 1 students are expected to develop specific reading competencies, including:

  • Reading fluency

  • Storytelling abilities
  • English language proficiency

These competencies are developed through various activities and assessments outlined in the syllabus and supporting materials.
