Thailand Mathayom 6/Grade 12 Curriculum - Mathematics
Mathayom 6 is the equivalent of Grade 12 in the Thai education system, marking the final year of secondary education. Students in Mathayom 6 undertake a national curriculum, which includes mathematics as a core subject. Successful completion of Mathayom 6, culminating in the Thailand Certificate of Secondary Education, is a prerequisite for university entrance.
The Thai mathematics curriculum, based on the Basic Education Core Curriculum B.E. 2551 (A.D. 2008), emphasizes developing students' mathematical competence across several key learning areas:
- Numbers and Operations: This strand focuses on understanding different representations of numbers and their real-world applications.
- Measurement: Students learn about various units and methods for measuring different quantities.
- Geometry: This area covers geometric shapes, their properties, and spatial relationships.
- Algebra: Students are introduced to algebraic concepts, including variables, expressions, and equations.
- Data Analysis and Probability: This strand focuses on collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, as well as understanding probability concepts.
- Statistics and Probability: This strand delves into statistical calculations, data representation, and qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
Some Mathayom 6 mathematics courses may also cover advanced topics such as calculus, pre-calculus, and further algebra. The curriculum aims to equip students with the mathematical skills and knowledge necessary for higher education and future careers. |
