Thailand Matthayom 3 Curriculum - Health and Physical Education

Health Education

  • Human Growth and Development: Students learn about the nature of human growth and development, including the factors that influence growth and the relationships between different body systems. They also learn how to conduct themselves in a manner appropriate for their age and developmental stage.
  • Life and Family: This topic covers self-esteem and appreciation, family relationships, sex education, and the development of essential life skills. Students learn about physical, mental, emotional, and sexual changes during puberty and adolescence, and how to adapt to these changes appropriately. They also learn about building and maintaining healthy relationships with others, sexual health practices, and strategies for resolving conflicts in family and peer groups.
  • Health-Strengthening Capacity and Disease Prevention: Students learn about principles and methods for selecting nutritious food, health products, and services. They also learn about strengthening their health and preventing communicable and non-communicable diseases. This includes analyzing the effects of disease transmission and proposing preventive measures, as well as demonstrating behaviors that indicate responsibility for their own health and the health of others.
  • Safety in Life: This topic focuses on preventing and avoiding risk factors, unhealthy behaviors, and accidents. Students learn about the proper use of medicines, the dangers of addictive substances, and how to protect themselves from violence. They also learn how to analyze the causes of addiction and persuade others to avoid drug use, as well as how to conduct themselves for safety in the face of natural disasters.

Physical Education

  • Movement, Physical Exercise, Games, Thai and International Sports: Students develop an understanding of movement and skills in various physical activities, games, and sports, both Thai and international. They learn basic movement skills, kinesthetic principles, and how to control their movements in different situations. They also learn how to classify kinesthetic principles related to force, balance, and body movement, and how to apply these principles to improve their performance in games and sports. Students are encouraged to participate in a variety of physical activities, including relays, integrated movement patterns, and at least one basic sport and one recreational activity.
  • Sportsmanship and Values: Students develop an appreciation for physical exercise, games, and sports, and are encouraged to participate regularly. They learn the importance of observing rules, regulations, and agreements, and develop sporting spirit and a true competitive spirit. They also learn how to plan offensive and defensive strategies in sports and apply them for appropriate team play. Students learn to cooperate in team sports and teamwork, analyze and accept differences between their own playing methods and those of others, and apply the concepts and principles they have learned to develop their quality of life in society.
