Thailand Prathom 1 Curriculum - Mathematics

Mathematics education in Thailand's Prathom 1 (Grade 1) follows the Basic Education Core Curriculum B.E. 2551 (A.D. 2008). This curriculum emphasizes developing fundamental mathematical understanding and skills through a learner-centered approach. The curriculum aims to foster problem-solving abilities, reasoning, communication, and creative thinking in students. It covers six key strands: Numbers and Operations, Measurement, Geometry, Algebra, Data Analysis and Probability, and Mathematical Skills and Processes.

Numbers and Operations

  • Standard M1.1: Understanding diverse methods of presenting numbers and their application in real life.
      • Indicator M1.1 Gr 1/1: Write and read Hindu-Arabic and Thai numerals showing quantity of objects or cardinal numbers not exceeding 100, and 0.
      • Indicator M1.1 Gr 1/2: Compare and arrange sequence of cardinal numbers not exceeding 100, and 0.
  • Standard M1.2: Understanding results of operations of numbers, relationships of operations, and application of operations for problem-solving.
      • Indicator M1.2 Gr 1/1: Add, subtract and mix addition and subtraction of cardinal numbers not exceeding 100, and 0, as well as be aware of validity of the answers.
      • Indicator M1.2 Gr 1/2: Analyse and find answers to problems and mix-problems of cardinal numbers not exceeding 100, and 0, as well as be aware of validity of the answers.
  • Standard M1.3: Use of estimation in calculation and problem-solving. (No indicators specified for Prathom 1)
  • Standard M1.4: Understanding of numerical system and application of numerical properties. (No indicators specified for Prathom 1)
