Thailand Prathom 1: Thai Language

The Thai Language curriculum for Prathom 1 (Grade 1) in Thailand is part of the core curriculum for primary education. Primary education in Thailand spans six years, from Prathom 1 to Prathom 6. Thai language is a compulsory subject for all Thai students, and foreign students are also required to dedicate time to learning Thai language and culture. The Basic Education Core Curriculum B.E. 2551 (A.D. 2008) provides a framework for this education. Additional learning time may be allocated to Thai language and mathematics in the early primary years (Prathom 1-3). Eight core subjects are taught at the elementary level, including Thai language, mathematics, science, social science, health and physical education, arts and music, technology, and foreign languages. While specific details on the Prathom 1 Thai Language curriculum are not readily available online, it is understood that the curriculum aims to build a strong foundation in Thai literacy, including reading, writing, and speaking skills.
