Timor Leste Primary Curriculum - Life Skills and Work Competence
The Timor-Leste primary curriculum has undergone significant development since 2003 as part of the nation's reconstruction. A new curriculum for preschool and the first six years of primary school has been implemented by the Ministry of Education. A nationally-led process has been undertaken to define the competencies and skills within the primary curriculum. While specific details about the Primary 4 Life Skills and Work Competence curriculum remain elusive, the broader primary curriculum focuses on improving literacy and numeracy and reducing student dropout. Teacher training programs have been implemented to support effective curriculum delivery. In September 2024, the government approved the addition of human brotherhood, morals, and ethics to the national basic curriculum. Life skills education is also being incorporated into programs for adolescents and youth, particularly in response to challenges like flooding. |
