Timor Leste Primary 4 Curriculum - Arts and Culture

Arts and Culture in the Timor Leste primary curriculum encompasses several key areas. Traditional arts and practices are emphasized, with a particular focus on Tais, the traditional Timorese textile. The government, through the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Art and Culture (MoYSAC) and the Ministry of Education, has formally incorporated Tais into the curriculum to enhance students' awareness of their cultural heritage and national identity. This initiative aims to teach students the diverse motifs and cultural values associated with Tais.

Another significant component of the Arts and Culture curriculum is permaculture. Timor-Leste has integrated a permaculture school gardens program into the national primary curriculum. This program provides students with practical experience in cultivating food crops, promoting food security, and fostering environmental awareness. Students learn about sustainable gardening practices and apply these skills in their home gardens.
