Togo CM2 Curriculum - Mathematics
The CM2 level (Cours Moyen 2ème Année) is the final year of primary education in Togo. Mathematics is a key subject in the CM2 curriculum, focusing on developing fundamental mathematical skills and knowledge. A new mathematics curriculum and accompanying textbooks were developed and distributed as part of the Basic Education Quality and Equity Improvement Project launched in 2022. This project aimed to improve both the quality and equity of basic education in Togo. Textbooks aligned with the new curricula were distributed for key subjects including math and reading for CE2, CM1, and CM2 levels. A 2020 report highlighted areas for improvement in education, including mathematics, and noted Togo's participation in assessments like TIMSS. A later report from 2021 provided an update on the implementation of the project. Further analysis of the curricula and pedagogical approaches in French and mathematics at the CM2 level and in 6ème (the first year of secondary school) was conducted to ensure coherence and alignment between primary and secondary education. There are textbooks available specifically designed for the Togo CM2 mathematics curriculum. These resources aim to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of mathematical concepts and prepare them for further studies. Overall, primary education in Togo, including the CM2 mathematics curriculum, has seen significant developments and improvements in recent decades. |
