Togo Collège (Lower Secondary) Music

Music education in Togo is present in most secondary schools, primarily through choir participation. These choirs are generally voluntary, and music instruction isn't always led by dedicated music teachers. The curriculum typically covers singing, solfege, and music theory. While there isn't a state music school, private tutors offer lessons. Traditional Togolese music features diverse percussion-led dance music, often used in rituals, ceremonies, and storytelling. In lower secondary school, which spans four years, students also take subjects like math, science, language arts, social studies, French, art, educational technology, and physical education.
