What’s your name?
Hi my name is Teacher Thomas.
What’s your teaching experience?
I am an ex-MOE teacher and have taught for more than 25 years in schools like Elias Park primary school, Qiao nan primary school and Catholic High. I specialise in teaching English and Mathematics from primary to secondary levels.
How do you teach that helps students learn efficiently?
In educating my students, I emphasize on having fun. I am glad to say that in encouraging them to attain their own learning experiences, my students found enjoyment in learning English through role-playing and online games thereby gained greater self-confidence.
Why do you enjoy teaching?
To borrow a quote from William Yeats, “Education is not filling a bucket, but lighting a fire.” I wish to inculcate more than just an academic know-how. Rather, I wish to merge a real world application to the skills imparted.
What’s one fun fact about you?
People collect things. I collect unusual English words of all sorts like words ending with a…..useful for playing Scrabbles.
