Tonga Form 2 Science Curriculum

The science curriculum for Form 2 in Tonga aims to provide students with a science course that meets national goals and reinforces traditional ways of life. It acknowledges the diverse range of schools in Tonga and the strong cultural influences that shape education. The curriculum recognizes the unique geographical and geological setting of the Tongan Islands and the rich, diverse environments they offer. These cultural influences and natural environments form the basis for an integrated and relevant course, while also providing students with a science foundation of international standard.

The Tonga Secondary Curriculum Project (TSCP), initiated in 1976, focused on developing curriculum materials for junior secondary schools. A more recent program, launched in 2024, aims to support quality primary and secondary education through curriculum revision, improved learning assessments, and teacher training. The Ministry of Education and Training (MET) oversees the implementation of these educational programs. Minimum Service Standards have been established for schools, including Form 2, to ensure quality education.
