Tunisia Basic Education Curriculum - Islamic Education

The Tunisian education system places a strong emphasis on education, allocating a significant portion of the government budget to it. Basic education in Tunisia is compulsory for nine years, encompassing six years of primary school and three years of preparatory education. Islamic education is a component of the curriculum throughout these nine years.

In the preparatory stage (grades 7-9, ages 12-15), the curriculum includes Islamic education alongside other subjects like Arabic, mathematics, French, science, history, and art. At the secondary school level, the Islamic education curriculum includes the history of Judaism and Christianity from an Islamic perspective.

While the specific details of the 9th-year Islamic education curriculum are not readily available, Islamic education in Tunisia is generally understood to cover Islamic rituals, beliefs, and history. The Ministry of Education in Tunisia oversees the curriculum and educational resources.
