Tunisia Basic Education Curriculum - Geography

The Tunisian Basic Education system (Enseignement de base) is compulsory for nine years, encompassing six years of primary school and three years of preparatory education (lower secondary). Students must pass regional exams at the end of 6th grade to progress.

Geography is introduced in the 3rd year of primary school and continues through the 9th year. The curriculum is taught in Arabic.

Primary School Geography Curriculum:

• 3rd Grade: 40 minutes per week
• 4th Grade: 20 minutes per week
• 5th Grade: 45 minutes per week
• 6th Grade: 1 hour per week

Preparatory Education (Lower Secondary) Geography Curriculum:

• 7th Grade: 1.5 hours per week
• 8th Grade: 1.5 hours per week
• 9th Grade: 1.5 hours per week
