Tunisia Fourth Year of Primary School Curriculum - Civics

The Tunisian primary school curriculum spans six years, covering ages 6 to 12 (grades 1 to 6). Education is compulsory and free for all children aged 6 to 16. The academic year typically begins in September and ends in June. The primary school curriculum includes Arabic language, civics, mathematics, French, technical education, Islamic studies, music, scientific awareness, geography, physical education, and art education. All subjects are taught in Arabic, except for French and English. French is introduced in the third grade, and English in the eighth grade. Students undergo oral and written tests, as well as practical examinations, at the end of each trimester. Specifically, the fourth year of primary school (4th form basic education) follows the official program and utilizes designated textbooks and audio resources. Civic education is integrated into the curriculum, focusing on concepts like citizenship, participation in a democratic system, and the rule of law. The Tunisian government prioritizes education, allocating a significant portion of its budget to the sector.
