Tunisia 9th Year Basic Education Curriculum - Mathematics

The Tunisian education system places a strong emphasis on education, with a significant portion of the government budget allocated to it. Basic education (Enseignement de base) in Tunisia spans nine years and is compulsory. It is divided into two stages: six years of primary school and three years of preparatory education (which includes the 9th year).

While the specific details of the 9th-year mathematics curriculum are not readily available, mathematics is a core subject within the basic education curriculum, alongside Arabic, French, Islamic education, science, history, geography, civics, art, and physical education. In the preparatory stage, the language of instruction for mathematics shifts to French.

Tunisia has demonstrated relatively strong performance in mathematics at the 4th-grade level in international assessments such as TIMSS. There is ongoing research and discussion regarding mathematics education in Tunisia, focusing on its history, challenges, and achievements.
