Drama in the Turkish Primary School Grade 1 Curriculum

Creative Drama

The Creative Drama curriculum for Grade 1 in Turkey aims to develop creative, spontaneous, and responsible individuals. The program focuses on fostering imagination, self-awareness, self-confidence, verbal and physical expression, communication and listening skills, cooperation, independent thinking, inquiry, observation, critical thinking, empathy, and aesthetic sensitivity.

Activities

The Creative Drama class utilizes a variety of activities, including educational games, dramatization, puppetry, creative dance, creative writing, role-playing, and improvisation. These activities introduce basic drama concepts and help students adapt to the school environment and culture. The curriculum also incorporates interdisciplinary learning by aligning activities with the Life Science subject.

Extra-Curricular Activities

In addition to classroom activities, several extra-curricular projects are offered, such as the "Our Friends" Project, held on October 4th (World Animal Day), and "Theatre Week," which takes place during the week of March 20th-27th.
