Turkey Primary School Grade 1 Curriculum - Turkish Language

The Turkish Language curriculum for Grade 1 in Turkey focuses on developing fundamental language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Some schools, like Bilfen, structure their Turkish program around these four skills. Terakki Foundation Schools further break down the teaching of reading and writing into five areas: listening, reading, speaking, writing, visual reading, and visual presentation.

Several resources and activities are used to support language learning. These include games, songs, books, worksheets, and interactive online platforms like Dinolingo. Mobile applications such as "Bil Bakalım 1&2 (Guess What 1&2)" are also utilized. Twinkl offers a variety of resources, including a Turkish Language Resource Pack. Other online resources include TurkishClass101 and TurkishClass.com, which offer structured lessons and learning groups.

The "Istanbul" series of textbooks and workbooks are commonly used, covering levels from A1 to C1. These resources are designed with contemporary language teaching methodologies in mind. Additional resources for self-study are available, including books, audio materials, and online courses.

The Turkish Ministry of National Education plays a key role in shaping the curriculum and providing resources. The curriculum aims to help students learn about their own culture and compare it with others. It emphasizes communication and skill-based learning.
