Turkey 4th Grade Curriculum - Foreign Language

The Turkish education system mandates twelve years of education, with foreign language instruction beginning in the 4th grade. While the specific foreign language offered may vary between schools, English is the most commonly taught. German and French are also offered in some schools.

English

The English curriculum for 4th grade aims to develop all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The curriculum follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) guidelines. Resources are available to support the curriculum, such as vocabulary cards and activity suggestions.

German and French

While less information is readily available about the specific German and French curricula, some schools offer these languages starting in 4th grade. The intensity of instruction may vary, with some schools offering a greater number of lessons per week.
