Turkmenistan Education System

Turkmenistan has a 12-year secondary education system. Sixth grade is part of the secondary level, which spans grades 5-11. While a precise curriculum for 6th grade is unavailable, some details about the broader education system can be provided.

Secondary Education (Grades 5-11)

Secondary education in Turkmenistan follows a structure of 4 years of primary school, 6 years of lower secondary, and 2 years of upper secondary. The 12-year Secondary Education Program was introduced in 2012 and implemented starting in the 2013/2014 academic year.

While a definitive list of 6th-grade subjects isn't readily available, information on secondary school subjects provides some insight. Ninth and tenth grades emphasize native language and literature, history, physics, mathematics, Turkmen or Russian language, chemistry, foreign language, world cultures, and physical education, with some electives available. It is reasonable to assume some of these subjects are also taught in 6th grade. The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan is responsible for education at all levels. Education is free for all children. Turkmen is the primary language spoken in schools.
