Tuvalu Primary School Curriculum

Primary education in Tuvalu spans eight years, from Year 1 to Year 8. Technical and Vocational Skills Development (TVSD) is integrated into the primary school curriculum for Years 7 and 8. At the end of Year 8, students take the National Year Eight (NYE) examination. The Tuvalu National Curriculum Policy Framework (TNCPF) guides curriculum development. While the TNCPF aims to create a relevant curriculum addressing the needs of individuals and society, including climate change education and human rights education, specific details about the Tuvaluan language curriculum for Year 8 remain elusive. Resources for Tuvalu Language Week, celebrated from September 29th to October 5th, offer some learning materials for Years 7 and 8, but these are not specific to the Tuvaluan curriculum.
