Uganda Senior Two (S2) Curriculum - One Elective Subject

The Uganda Senior Two (S2) curriculum comprises compulsory and elective subjects. Students are required to choose one elective subject in addition to the core curriculum. The elective subjects include:

  • Agriculture: This elective focuses on practical farming skills and knowledge of agricultural principles. Resources include notes on farming systems practiced in Uganda, teacher's guides, and learning materials covering topics such as preparing a seed bed and methods of collecting gases.
  • Performing Arts: This subject explores various aspects of music, dance, and drama, including traditional Ugandan styles, vocal techniques, accompaniment, costume, and the performing arts industry.
  • Art and Design: This elective covers a range of artistic skills and knowledge, including drawing, painting, and the role of art in the economy. Learning resources include syllabi, homeschooling packages, and teacher's guides.
  • Literature in English: This elective aims to develop students' understanding and appreciation of literature through inquiry, expression, and skill development. Resources include syllabi, learner's books, and practice workbooks.
  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT): This elective focuses on developing basic ICT literacy skills and using ICT as a learning tool across different subjects. Resources include learner's books, teacher's guides, syllabi, and sample assessment items.

The S2 curriculum emphasizes competency-based learning, focusing on developing practical skills and knowledge applicable to real-world situations. A variety of learning resources, including textbooks, online courses, and downloadable materials, are available to support students in their studies.
