Defense of Ukraine: 10th Grade Curriculum (Profile Level)
This course, implemented in September 2024, focuses on providing 10th-grade students with a comprehensive understanding of national defense and practical skills applicable in various security contexts. The curriculum emphasizes practical application and is designed to be gender-neutral, providing the same training to all students.
Core Topics:
- Basics of National Security and Defense: This module covers fundamental concepts related to Ukraine's national security framework, including national interests, potential threats, and the role of various security and defense institutions.
- Weapons and Military Equipment: Students will learn about different types of weapons and military equipment, their operation, and their role in national defense.
- Principles of Command and Planning: This module introduces students to basic military command structures, strategic planning, and decision-making processes in defense scenarios.
Practical Skills Development:
The curriculum emphasizes hands-on training in several key areas:
- Terrain Orienteering: Students will develop skills in navigation, map reading, and understanding terrain features.
- Engineering Fortifications: This module covers the construction of defensive structures and field fortifications.
- Marksmanship Training: Students will receive training in safe weapons handling and marksmanship fundamentals.
- First Aid: Basic first aid and emergency medical response techniques are covered in this module.
- Modern Technologies in Defense: This includes training in areas such as drone operation, information security, navigation, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and psychological resilience.
Implementation:
The "Defense of Ukraine" course is a mandatory subject for 10th-grade students. In addition to regular classes, a dedicated training day is held once a month to provide students with more in-depth instruction and practical exercises. |
