Ukraine Law Curriculum (Profile Level) - Grades 10-11
This curriculum outlines the topics covered in the Law course for grades 10-11 at the profile level in Ukraine.
Grade 10
- Unit 1: Foundations of State and Law Theory
- Introduction to Legal Studies: Concept, purpose, objectives, and structure of the subject.
- The State: Origins of state and law, concept and attributes of a state, state system, people's power, state authorities and local government, the state, the person, and society.
- Law: Law as a special kind of social norms, system of law, forms and sources of law, legislation, lawmaking and systematization of legislation, legal relations, legal behavior and offenses, legal responsibility, rule of law, and legal consciousness.
- Ukrainian Constitutional Law: Understanding of Constitutional Law of Ukraine, general provisions of Ukraine's constitutional system, citizenship of Ukraine, international human rights law, human and civil rights, freedoms and duties, people's power in Ukraine, legislative power of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine, the executive authority of Ukraine, local self-government in Ukraine, the judicial power in Ukraine, and law enforcement agencies of Ukraine and the advocacy.
Grade 11
- Unit II: Fundamentals of Public Law of Ukraine
- Administrative Law of Ukraine: General characteristics, public service, administrative law offenses (misdemeanors), administrative responsibility, and administrative procedure.
- Financial Law of Ukraine: Overview, introduction to budgetary law, tax system, and legislation on banks and banking activities.
- Criminal Law of Ukraine: General characteristics, crime, criminal liability, criminal punishment, special aspects of criminal liability and punishment of juveniles, and liability for certain crimes.
- Introduction to Ukrainian Criminal Procedure: Criminal procedure.
- Unit III: Fundamentals of Ukrainian Private Law
- Civil Law of Ukraine: General characteristics and civil legal relations, subjects of civil law relations, deeds, suretyship and power of attorney, overview of ownership and other proprietary rights, forms and types of ownership, intellectual property law, civil liability, general provisions of civil proceedings, protection of civil rights and protected interests, obligations under civil law, civil law contracts, and basics of inheritance law.
- Commercial Law of Ukraine: General characteristics, economic entities, commercial contracts, and economic and legal responsibility.
- Ukrainian Labour Law: Legal regulation of labor relations, contract of employment, working time and leisure time, labor discipline, individual and collective labor disputes, and remuneration of labor and occupational safety and health.
- Ukrainian Family Law: General characteristics, marriage, rights and duties of spouses, mutual rights and obligations of parents and children, and arrangements for children without parental care.
- Ukrainian Land Law: General characteristics, right of ownership of land, and acquisition and realization of the right to own land and protection of land ownership right.
