Ukraine Grade 2 Computer Science Syllabus

This syllabus outlines the expected learning outcomes and training content for Grade 2 Computer Science (Informatics) in Ukraine. It specifies the use of graphic editors, including offline, online, and Scratch environment versions.

1. Information and Actions with Information

  • Expected Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to explain the importance of information in human life, provide examples of its personal significance, identify sensory organs for information gathering, differentiate information forms (text, graphic, sound), distinguish between true/false information and assumptions/fantasy, use social media for information and communication (under adult supervision), and evaluate their learning.
  • Training Content: The world around us and information, types of information by presentation method.

2. Computer Devices for Handling Information

  • Expected Learning Outcomes: Students will understand computers and other devices as tools for information processing, provide examples of information transfer and dissemination technologies, use digital devices, explain digital safety measures, seek help with computer issues, and evaluate their learning.
  • Training Content: Computer technology as a means of carrying out actions with information.

3. Object and Object Properties

  • Expected Learning Outcomes: Students will identify objects and their properties, describe objects by naming properties and values, compare objects based on property values, observe objects for common and distinctive features, provide examples of objects matching given properties, and evaluate their learning.
  • Training Content: Creating simple geometric models of objects by describing their properties. Changing object property values (outline color, background color, object shape).

4. Computer Programs, Menus, and Tools

  • Expected Learning Outcomes: Students will launch and terminate applications, identify drawing tools in graphic editors, select appropriate tools, create images using geometric shapes and modify properties (color, outline, background), perform coloring and repainting tasks, explain color choices, and evaluate their learning.
  • Training Content: Computer program menus and tools. Overview of different examples of menus. Graphic editor tools and their settings. Creating and editing non-complex drawings. Drawing color scheme selection and preservation.

5. Creation of Information Models, Changing Finished Products, and Use

  • Expected Learning Outcomes: Students will merge objects based on properties, create visual responses to geometric tasks, transfer picture fragments, select and sort data by features, create graphical responses to learning tasks, identify repetition and sequence patterns, reproduce object sequences with regularity, and evaluate their learning.
  • Training Content: Transferring picture fragments. Selection and sorting of data by a certain feature. Simple and composite plot geometric problems. Copying snippets in a picture.

6. Linear Algorithms

  • Expected Learning Outcomes: Students will define sequences of steps for performers, identify errors in algorithms, determine the results of linear algorithms for geometric image construction, create drawings based on algorithms, propose algorithms for creating geometric images, and evaluate their learning.
  • Training Content: Creating drawings using ready-made algorithms. Drawing up graphic algorithms.
