Ukraine Primary School Physical Education Curriculum

Primary school physical education in Ukraine focuses on developing fundamental movement skills, theoretical knowledge, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Curriculum models aim to balance natural growth and development with the acquisition of essential skills and physical activity. The curriculum is delivered through play-based pedagogy.

Class Structure:

  • Lesson Duration: Lessons for first-year students cannot exceed 35 minutes, while lessons for students in years 2-4 cannot exceed 40 minutes.

Curriculum Cycles:

  • Adaptive Play (Years 1-2): This cycle emphasizes activity-based learning.
  • Years 3-4: This cycle builds upon the foundation established in the earlier years.

Additional Information:

Ukrainian folk outdoor games are sometimes incorporated into physical training programs for young children. Some schools supplement their physical education programs with additional sports, outdoor games, and interactions with athletes.
