United Kingdom National Curriculum - Computing

This document details the course entries for the Computing subject within the United Kingdom National Curriculum.

Creating Media

3D Modelling

Students learn to use software and digital devices to create and manipulate 3D digital objects. They compare working digitally with 2D and 3D shapes, and explore the reasons for representing 3D objects on computers.

Computing Systems and Networks

Students learn about different types of computer networks, the elements that make up a basic network (including clients, servers, and the internet), and how data is transmitted across networks using protocols. They explore the benefits of networking and develop their understanding of computer networks by seeing examples of network infrastructure in real-world settings.

Programming

Students are introduced to visual programming languages specifically designed for creating games, such as Kodu. They learn fundamental programming concepts like variables, algorithms, repetition, and selection. They also develop skills in designing, writing, and debugging programs to achieve specific goals, including controlling or simulating physical systems.
